How Does Jesus Restore our Politics?

Jesus restores our politics by restoring the image of God in us. This is not an event to support a candidate or platform, implicitly or explicitly. Instead, we hope to commend a renewed conception of politics and a type of church culture that flows from new life in Christ, which in turn can have an influence on our city and the world. Check out the video invitation for more information!

About our Speaker

Dr. Jay Harvey is pursuing a second research doctorate and is Ph.D. Candidate in Systematic Theology at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. He focuses on political theology in and through the book of Revelation, especially in conversation with Jacques Ellul, Herman Bavinck, Richard Bauckham, and Willie Jennings. He is concurrently enrolled in the M.A. program in Philosophy at the Graduate Center in New York City, where he has done doctoral coursework in political philosophy with the late Charles Mills and the renown political scientist and Edmond Burke scholar, Uday Mehta. In this talk he draws upon Scripture and the Reformed tradition to show how a renewed understanding of the local church is a vital precondition for a healthy political culture in society at large.

Format and Registration

There will be time for Q&A after the talk. This event will take place at the Studios of the New York City Center 130 West 56th Street (not on 55th Street where the main entrance is). Registration is required for building access.
