Mission and vision

  • We aim to lower barriers to entry to church community, while having meaningful content. We do this in several ways. First, we have a worship service that is an hour long. We also change the topics frequently without sacrificing depth (see our worship page for more details). Our pastor leads short courses designed for connection and learning. You can jump in and out quickly but still have an immersive experience if you want it. Additionally, we host events on relevant and timely topics. Our pastor and leaders are also available for one-on-one meetings. Feel free to message us via Instagram if you’d like to learn more! We have a contact page too.

  • We want people to find life in a relationship with Jesus. He is the way, the truth, and the life, and we all need a fresh start. Our hope is that people will experience a renewed sense of purpose that only Jesus can provide. This renewed purpose is often described as a calling. We also want to offer hope, gently chipping away at the cynicism that can undermine us all.

  • In the most general sense, people need the new life that Jesus Christ offers them, and they need to experience His presence daily. For those who are exploring what they believe, we hope to provide a patient and compassionate place to explore without pressure. We are up for the long conversation for those who have had hard encounters with Christianity. Some of us have as well! When it comes to personal meaning and fulfillment, we think that focusing especially on the Christian teaching of calling can be helpful. This notion includes spiritual rest and satisfaction, but also meaningful work.

When it comes to mental health, we believe that we all need to have our minds renewed regularly. There has been a lot written about how media and society at large have malformed our minds and imaginations. Regular engagement in community with Scripture heals our minds and enlivens our imaginations. When it comes to some of the deep-seated challenges facing our society, it can be helpful to remember this idea in the Bible of dual citizenship. Jesus offers us citizenship in heaven that ensures our future and allows us to love our neighbors and engage culture from a robust and hopeful posture.

So, calling, renewed mind and imagination, and heavenly citizenship that leads to hopeful engagement with the world around us—these are themes found in Scripture that we think are helpful for our current moment.

  • Our mission is to embody a life-giving community in the heart of New York City. Through the power of the gospel, our vision is to nurture a church culture that is for one another, for our institutions, and for the world. We seek to place the riches of Christian theology in conversation with the needs of our present moment. We all need purpose and a life-giving presence, and we are all made to have a hopeful and patient influence on the world.

  • The good news of Jesus Christ and the Word of God are the foundation for the new expression of church community that we seek to embody. We are a church plant under the oversight of Exilic Church, which is in its 10th year of ministry in Midtown. Our pastor served on the staff of Exilic Church as Scholar in Residence since 2019. We situate ourselves in the historic Protestant tradition of the Reformation. We are a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church of America.
